Late February is always hard because this picture comes up on my memories and reminds me of what an amazing life I had with one of my best friends. Felipe was bigger than this entire planet. He touched more people than he knew, than we know, than we’ll ever know.

Every time I want to skip a workout I hear him telling me I’m better than that. Every time I want to walk out without makeup I hear him telling me to put lipstick on for my husband…And every time I hear it in my head…I want to punch him now the same way I did then. And I’m so mad I can’t.
•
How dare you leave us like that, Jefe. I’m still not over it and I never will be. But I hope you’re having fun messing with me and my feelings that you told me I should feel and I never wanted to and now can’t run away from.

It takes a real one to make you stop and thank God you had a chance to spend time with them. He was one, and he brought me my MABAPAC brothers and sisters.

Lesson learned: hold the ones you love CLOSE. Like…weirdly close. Be yourself. Say the things. The ones that love you will embrace you. The ones that don’t aren’t your people. The ones that are will find a place into your heart that will stay forever and will make you a better person.
