Years ago, the Goodman family built, owned, and briefly operated Valley Skate Center — not just as a business, but as a place for the community to gather.

Over the last several days, the response from the community sharing Valley Skate Center memories has been incredible. Story after story has poured in about DJ Louie, skate guard Jerry, couples skate, overnight skates, the moonwalk, pickle popsicles from the snack bar, awkward middle school dances, and packed Friday nights people still remember decades later.

For one night, we get to bring a little of that Valley Skate Center feeling back to Main Street. 🛼

Small towns teach you something big: community is built face to face.

Before group chats and smartphones, we had Friday nights, familiar faces, and places where everyone looked out for each other.

For many of us, Valley Skate Center was one of those places.

As St. Clairsville celebrates America 250 and Main Street becomes a temporary roller rink for one special night, I keep thinking about how much those simple gathering places matter.
