Captain Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger is known around the world for the “Miracle on the Hudson” - staying calm under extraordinary circumstances and safely landing a plane carrying more than 150 people.

Today, he’s sharing a very different journey.

Sullenberger recently opened up about his diagnosis of early-stage Alzheimer’s disease and the subtle changes he and his family first noticed - including forgetfulness, difficulty remembering names and repeating himself.

His story is an important reminder that dementia doesn’t always begin with dramatic changes. And for families, understanding what a loved one may be experiencing can make a meaningful difference.

On October 22, we’re inviting you to step into that perspective during Walking in Their Shoes: A Dementia Live Experience.

Presented by Dementia Care Solutions, Caring Mission Home Care Services and Zacharia Brown & Bratkovich, this interactive experience combines dementia education, hands-on simulation and practical legal guidance to help participants better understand and prepare for the journey.

We’re excited to celebrate a new chapter for one of our own! 🎓⚖️

Sindhu Avadhanula, Estate Planning Paralegal in our Delmont office, has officially begun the Part-Time Evening Juris Doctor Program at Duquesne University’s Thomas R. Kline School of Law!

Sindhu plays an important role at Zacharia Brown & Bratkovich, serving as a primary point of contact for families following the death of a loved one. From guiding clients through the probate and estate administration process to coordinating tax filings and keeping families informed along the way, she brings knowledge, compassion and care to clients during an often difficult time.

Now, she’s taking the next step in her own professional journey - pursuing her J.D. while continuing to work and serve our clients.
We’re incredibly proud of Sindhu and can’t wait to cheer her on over the next four years. And knowing Sindhu, she’ll probably keep perfecting those ZBB elevator pitches on her way to class, too. 😊
