This is a big change in CA! Prior to 2022, for most wrongful death actions, a survival action could not include the pain and suffering of the person who was alleged to have died as a result of another's wrongful conduct. With it taking sometimes 2 years plus to get to Trial in CA this takes the burden off of a Plaintiff to get to trial before their their death.

We're excited to announce we've moved our office to Westlake Village! We have a new physical address but our phone number and emails remain the same. Technology continues to allow our firm to effectively represent our clients all over the state of California despite Covid-19 restrictions.

On March 20, 2020, Governor Gavin Newsom issued a state-wide stay at home order to help combat the Coronavirus. The order mandates that California residents work remotely to lessen the exposure to individuals who may be infected with COVID-19. Hence, to protect our Client's and our Staff Members, the Attorneys and all Staff at Ross & Ross Law, A.P.C. have transitioned to working remotely until further notice. Despite these changes, we are able to respond to your emails and phone calls as you may need.

Though the Courts are closed for trials and hearings except for emergency matters, many courts including the Los Angeles County Superior Court are accepting new filings electronically. We continue to communicate with Clients and other Counsel to take the actions needed to protect our Clients' interests.

These are challenging times for all of us but, despite the uncertainties, we will get through this together. Our best to you and your families and please stay safe. Rest assured that we are here if you need us.

Not yet clear what caused this tragic single vehicle fatal collision today. A reminder though to slow down and eliminate distractions as much as possible while driving. Sending prayers to the affected family.

A friendly PSA. If you like to buy products on Amazon (who doesn't?!), you should be aware of today's Northern California District Court decision in the case of Carpenter v. Amazon. The Court agreed with Amazon that Amazon has no liability for products sold by third party sellers on their website. Many third party sellers on Amazon are out of the country (China, etc.) which makes it extremely difficult to pursue a product liability case against a seller if a product were to cause damage or injury to someone. Check into the Sellers before you buy!

101 FREEWAY BETWEEN REYES ADOBE AND PARKWAY CALABASAS IS CLOSED BOTH DIRECTIONS.

2:47 A.M. FRIDAY MORNING-ALL WESTLAKE VILLAGE UNDER MANDATORY EVACUATION.

1:32 A.M. FRIDAY MORNING- MALIBU LAKE AREA NOW UNDER MANDATORY EVAC. CONCERN THAT THE FIRE IS GOING TO JUMP THE 101 FREEWAY IMMINENTLY.

1:15 A.M. FRIDAY MORNING. ALL PERSONS SOUTH OF 101 FREEWAY BETWEEN WESTLAKE BLVD ON THE WEST, MULHOLLAND HIGHWAY ON THE SOUTH AND LAS VIRGENES ON THE EAST. LEAVE NOW. THE FIRE IS MOVING VERY FAST. WIND GUSTS ARE 50-60 MPH.

ALERT! 7:30 PM THURSDAY NIGHT. MANDATORY EVACUATIONS HAVE BEEN ORDERED BY LOS ANGELES COUNTY FIRE DEPT FOR THE ENTIRE AREA BORDERED BY THE 101 FRWY, LINDERO CYN AND VALLEY CIRCLE ALL THE WAY TO 118 AND NORTH. SEE ATTACHED EVAC MAP.

12:50 am update. 15-20 homes on fire in Oak Park. Significant fire burning in Grey Rock area in Agoura Hills.

Fire resources are stretched to the bone. If you are ordered to evacuate please comply. Residents who disregard evacuation orders put themselves, deputies and firefighters in jeopardy.

There are two high wind driven fires actively moving through Ventura County right now. The first, a massive 9,000+ acre fire is near the 101 and Ventu in Newbury Park. The 101 is closed in both directions at Wendy Drive to vehicle traffic. The second fire is burning near Woolsey Canyon in Chatsworth. These are both dangerous fires as they are large and wind driven. Your presence in a fire path puts fire and law enforcement lives in peril.

UPDATE. Red Cross setting up at Taft High School at 9 pm. 5461 Winnetka Ave, Woodland Hills.

UPDATE 4:18 am. Animals can be evacuated to Hansen Dam. Pierce College is full.
