Unfortunately, in America’s criminal courtrooms, prosecutors will use peremptory challenges to prevent “black, brown and yellow skinned” people from sitting on the jury. The common occurrence of this practice is appalling in today’s society. Criminal defense attorneys can object to a prosecutor’s peremptory challenges and the trial court is left to ultimately decide if the strike was racially motivated. Learn more about this process and why black jurors matter in my new blog post.

According to new polls released by Pew Research Center, 53% of Americans support legalization of ma*****na. Millennials are the most supportive of legalization with 68% of 18-34 year olds in favor of it. While Florida is considered a swing state on the matter, a Quinnipiac poll revealed that 84% of Floridians support medical ma*****na.

Thus far, 23 states have legalized medicinal ma*****na and four states plus the District of Columbia have legalized the substance for recreational use. This new momentum may help Florida pass a medical ma*****na measure in 2016 where it did not succeed in 2014. *****na

Opponents of legalizing ma*****na can't be happy about several new polls released Tuesday. Majority support for making cannabis legal is holding steady, while young adults are legalization's biggest fans. And that's true both nationally and in severa...

The Florida Sheriff’s Association announced that they oppose a medical ma*****na bill that is currently being pushed by a Republican lawmaker. The bill would allow state-regulated dispensaries for patients with a wide variety of conditions.

The Sheriffs also announced the “core legislative principles” that a Florida medical ma*****na bill must have to gain their support which included disallowing general pain as a qualifying diagnosis and also disallowing smoked ma*****na. It is important to note that there have been many studies conducted on the potentially positive therapeutic benefits of cannabis, including several conducted by the National Institute on Drug Abuse. *****na

There is a possibility that dozens of red-light camera cases will be thrown out of court today in West Palm Beach. At 1:30pm, the court magistrate is expected to rule on over 100 cases in the West Palm Beach City Commission chambers. The Palm Beach Post reported that the judge who oversees the West Palm Beach red-light cameras had told the city that it had until today to resolve issues over the current system.

This is a result of a court ruling in Hollywood, FL over how the red-light camera pictures are analyzed. The court ruled it illegal for the private company that runs the camera to be part of the process of determining if the driver actually ran a red light.

Dozens of red-light camera cases could be thrown out of court Wednesday in West Palm Beach.

On Thursday, the Supreme Court ruled that obtaining a cell phone location to track a person’s location or movement in real time requires a court-ordered warrant.

This ruling comes as a result of a particular case where Florida police tracked a man without a warrant using a real-time site location and arrested him with possession of co***ne.

The court ruled that tracking a person’s real time movement constitutes a search. This ruling will help protect the privacy of Florida residents.

Americans may have a Florida drug dealer to thank for expanding our right to privacy. Police departments around the country have been collecting phone metadata from telecoms and using a sophisticated spy tool to track people through their mobile phones—often without obtaining a warrant. But a new ru…

Disorderly conduct is a that is comprised of a wide variety of actions. Some residents and visitors who are charged with disorderly conduct are unaware that their actions are against the law. Some examples of disorderly conduct include loitering, playing music at an unreasonably high volume, and using offensive languages to provoke others. It's still important to take these charges seriously and consult with an attorney over your options to prevent a criminal record.

Andrew D. Stine is an experienced criminal defense lawyer who represents individuals who have been charged with disorderly conduct. He provides legal representation for clients in West Palm Beach, Palm Beach Gardens, Jupiter, and the surrounding areas.

An employee of Princeton University was told that he had to choose between keeping his job or participating in New Jersey’s medical ma*****na program. The employee suffers from spasms as well as post-traumatic stress disorder and uses the medical ma*****na to relieve his symptoms. With Florida voting on Amendment 2, that could legalize medical ma*****na in November, we will likely see more instances of employer discrimination against state medical ma*****na patients.

Former Libertarian candidate Don DeZarn, who ran on a pro-legalization platform in the 14th Legislative District last year and was arrested twice at ma*****na protests, says Princeton University won't allow him to continue working there while enrolled in the state's medical ma*****na program.
