Join us in congratulating Nichole Segal for securing a win for our client in the Fourth District Court of Appeal this week!
Our client alleged that he was induced to purchase stock in a company based on false representations by the company's owner that the company was going to buy an interest in a English Premier League soccer team. The purchase never happened. Our client brought a multi-count complaint against the company and its owner, generally alleging that they made fraudulent misrepresentations that induced our client to buy the stock. The trial court dismissed the case, determining that our client knew that the sale might not go through based on generic disclaimers in the stock offering documents. The Fourth District reversed, holding that our client had sufficiently pled his claims of misrepresentation. His case will return to the trial court now for further proceedings, including a trial by a jury.
