Kareem Abdul-Jabbar sold his 4 championship rings, 3 MVP Trophies and other memorabilia for 2.8 million dollars with the proceeds going to a youth education program.

The hall of famer said, “when it comes to choosing between storing a championship ring or trophy in a room, or providing kids with an opportunity to change their lives, the choice is pretty simple: Sell it all.”

I have received many questions about how long an expungement takes. It is essentially a 4 step process. 1. Application that is filed with the court that takes my office about a week to file, once I am retained and client obtains a finger print card from the Michigan State Police. 2. MSP has to provide the Court the applicants criminal history. 3. The Attorney General's office has to provide an opinion to the court if the applicant is eligible. 4. Expungement hearing. The first two steps happen within 30 days. The major problem is currently the Attorney General's office. Due to the influx of expungement applications, it is taking them 4-6 months and there is nothing that can be done to expedite the process. I guess, lesson learned is apply as soon as you can, but the process will likely take approximately 6 months. Hopefully the Attorney General's office can start to keep up with the influx of applications.
