Oh these days. When I was a divorced single mom who could barely afford this trip without the help of my parents. Who just wanted to provide a better life for them, knowing I would be the parent they would turn to when they needed help. It was then I made the decision to apply to law school. I remember telling my parents on this vacation that I was going to apply. They were concerned, but never doubtful, of the task ahead. But I never wavered. There was too much at risk. My future. My kids future. I took classes at night with younger law students who had every luxury at their fingertips. I studied after the kids went to bed for hours into the early morning. I worked during the day giving my heart to the families we helped. My kids attended moot court with me. My son helped me review flash cards on our trips to Disney. I graduated Cum Laude. I passed the Florida Bar the first time. I opened my practice. Never once regretting the sacrifices made along the way. So when people tell you they can’t do something because of time, money, or whatever excuse, just know that if it was important, they would find a way. Never fear the journey of starting over.
