Hispanic Heritage Month comes to an end, but our heritage lives on every day.

As we close this month of celebration, we reflect on a special moment in the lives of Mr. Ezequiel Reyna and his wife, Livia Reyna: the dedication of a classroom and Hispanic Heritage Wall of Honor at the University of Houston Law Center.

From growing up in a family of migrant farmworkers to becoming an attorney, Mr. Reyna's journey is a reminder that our beginnings do not define our limits.

But what makes this moment especially meaningful is what Mr. Reyna shared about the recognition:

“This is not just my recognition. This is an award that belongs to everybody.”

For him, this honor represents the family, friends, and Rio Grande Valley community who have been part of his journey. And for future generations of students, these spaces stand as reminders of what determination, education, and opportunity can make possible.

A Legacy of Determination, Service, and Opportunity.

In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, the University of Houston Law Center has recognized Ezequiel Reyna, Jr. (J.D. '80) for his remarkable journey and lasting contributions to the legal profession.

From his humble beginnings as the son of migrant farmworkers in South Texas to building a law firm that has served hundreds of thousands of clients, Mr. Reyna's story is one of perseverance, dedication, and a lifelong commitment to helping others.

His legacy extends beyond the courtroom. Together with his wife, Livia Reyna, he established the Ezequiel and Livia Reyna Hispanic Law Heritage Wall of Honor and the Ezequiel Reyna Jr. and Livia Reyna Hispanic Heritage Classroom at the University of Houston Law Center, inspiring future generations of legal professionals.
We are honored to see Mr. Reyna recognized by Dean Leonard M. Baynes and the University of Houston Law Center as part of this special Hispanic Heritage Month tribute.
