Happy Monday!

This Monday finds us in Orlando federal court doing a walk-through for a trial one of our techs is handling next week. Nothing beats getting eyes on the room before go time. Every courtroom has its own quirks, and you’d rather find them now than the morning of opening statements.

Yesterday I was inducted into the President’s Circle at the Greater Wellington Chamber of Commerce.

When I moved to Wellington, I joined the Chamber for simple reasons. Meet other business owners. Give back to the community. And if I crossed paths with a litigation attorney who handles the kind of cases we work on, even better.

Best decision I’ve made since getting here. The Small Business Committee, the subcommittees, the monthly luncheons, the conversations that keep going long after the room clears out.

Thank you to the Chamber team for the recognition, and to everyone who has made Wellington such an easy place to put down roots.

Happy Friday!

Spent the morning strategizing about a future podcast I’ll be involved in. My piece would be focusing on AI solutions for business owners.

Next stop, prep meeting on a huge trial that starts next month.

Quick refuel between Zoom calls. Pura Vida in Miami has been my go to spot in South Florida for a while now, and I am seeing them pop up in New York now too, so I guess the secret is kind of out.

TGIF!

Chamber meeting in Wellington this morning, then Zoom calls the rest of the day. On the way in I passed the 9/11 Memorial like I do most days, but today I actually stopped.

Took a picture, then walked up closer and realized every name is etched into the glass. Our cousin’s is there.

Nice that this town built something that keeps them with us.

Great evening catching up with the team of one of the startups I’m involved in. Pictured with me is the great and knowledgeable Noel J. Guillama. A lot of groundwork is getting done before funding even comes into play, thanks in large part to our colleague Shaun’s development work behind the scenes. Always good to sit down, catch up, and talk through what’s next.

Happy Paralegals Day to the people who actually keep trials running. I’ve said it for twenty years, the best trial teams are built on paralegals who catch the detail everyone else missed, who know exactly where that one exhibit is buried, and who somehow stay calm when nobody else in the room is. Trials couldn’t function without the paralegals we get to work alongside every single case.

Grateful for all of you today.

Every so often, it’s worth turning around and looking at the wires.

Not the finished light. The tangled, unglamorous work that had to happen before anything lit up. The trial and error. The late nights and false starts. The version of you who didn’t know if it would work.

From a distance, all anyone sees is the glow, like it was always going to turn out this way. But you know what it took.

Arrival always implies a departure. You don’t get to where you are without leaving something behind. Take a moment to look back, not out of nostalgia, but out of respect for the ground you covered.

Where you are now was never guaranteed. It was wired together, one connection at a time.
