💡 Business owners: does your child help you in the business? Put them on payroll, for real.
If the work is real and the pay is fair for what they do, those wages are a deductible business expense.
And note this: if you are the sole owner of your business and your child is under 18, those wages do not pay Social Security or Medicare taxes.
Your child may also owe no federal income tax on those wages up to their standard deduction as a dependent.
This is not under-the-table money: document the work, the hours, and the pay, just like with any employee.
Want to set it up right from the start? At Casco Global we can help you review it before the year ends.
