Everyone needs estate planning. It is affordable. This is an area that saves money, trouble, and trauma in the long run. Aging people need disability planning along with transferring assets. Young parents need to plan for kids in case of tragedy. Even if you have few assets, the efficiencies gained can be most important. Don't put it off. It may never get accomplished.

Happy Disability Pride Month! July marks the anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act, a critical step toward ensuring people with disabilities have equal access to opportunity. Now, those rights are under attack. As we shape the next 250 years of our country, we have the power to protect them and build a future that is truly inclusive and celebrates every body.

Here are the new regs on rec vehicles from the Secretary of State. My libertarian side principles say this is over-regulation and poor priorities. But it is now the law. Many in our local communities express concerns about the problem but have difficulties with police enforcement. Perhaps the action of the Governor and legislature will help address their concerns.

We're taking the day off today in observance of Dr. King's birthday. Society should better observe his principles. Atticus Finch, the lawyer from "To Kill a Mockingbird," exhibited those principles and has been a light and inspiration to me. So salute to justice and human decency in memory of Dr. King.

People have few health care rights in our society. The State of Illinois is one the few states that provide some protection for medical debt and some right of access. This is always important and will become more so as the costs of health care and insurance increase and become less access able. Check it out on the interactive map below.
