Creating an LLC and obtaining insurance do not automatically complete the registration requirements for residential improvement work.

Connecticut DCP requires home-improvement contractors to maintain the appropriate registration. Applicants must choose whether they are registering as an individual or legal entity, provide qualifying general-liability insurance information and complete the process online. Current registrations expire annually on March 31. Review Connecticut DCP’s current requirements⁠.

Electrical, plumbing, HVAC and certain other skilled work may also require the proper occupational license. Connecticut licensing guidance⁠.
