As we come up on our three year anniversary of opening Polar Books, I can’t help but have an overwhelming sense of gratitude, pride, and honestly, disbelief.

I remember laughing when I shared my year one client goal with a friend and he said, “that’s too easy. You’ll double that without a problem.”

I remember when my business coach kept pushing me to dream bigger than “just replacing my full time income”.

I remember late night talks with my husband chatting about what it would be like to have a team and an office space “in five to 10 years” 😂

What a privilege it is to serve this community. What a privilege it is to partner with businesses and watch them grow. What a privilege it is to have a team that I can count on to represent me and our company, and serve our clients with the excellence they deserve.

To say I’m thankful for all of the love and support will forever be the biggest understatement. 💙

This week, we’re celebrating a very special milestone for our teammate, Yael, who is heading out on maternity leave to welcome her first baby girl into the world! 💖

We cannot wait to meet the newest member of the Polar family (who already has allll the Polar Swag ready and waiting 😉 🍼) and sneak in all the baby snuggles we possibly can.

Yael’s dedication, attention to detail, and warmth have made such an impact on our team and our clients. And while we’ll miss having her in the office for a while, we couldn’t be more excited for her as she steps into this next chapter of motherhood.

We've seen it all. Shoeboxes, 5 gallon buckets… you name it! No judgement here! BUT 🚨 PSA for business owners: Your shoebox (or break box in this case 🤪) full of crumpled receipts is not a filing system. 🚨

Receipts are like socks in the laundry. You swear you put them in one place, and suddenly ✨poof✨ they’ve vanished when you actually need them.

But here’s the truth: good receipt keeping isn’t about being a neat freak. It’s about protecting your money. That tiny $47 receipt for supplies? That could be the tax deduction that saves you hundreds. Lose it, and it’s basically like handing the IRS a gift card. 🎁

So next time you're thinking, "Do I actually need to keep this receipt?" just remember:

Coffee receipts = not just proof you fueled up, but proof of a legit business meeting. ☕

That Home Depot run = evidence you actually bought lumber, not just another succulent. 🌵

Cloud storage = better than the glove compartment you’ve been stuffing papers into since 2019.

I've said it before and I'll continue to say it. I'm a mean mom. My kids pay bills.

They probably hate it now, but raising financially literate kids will forever be the hill I die on.

I refuse to allow my kids to think that one swipe of the card and groceries, gas, Netflix, and new shoes magically appear✨ and that a 27% interest rate on their first vehicle is a good deal 🫣

The earlier they learn how money really works, the stronger their financial foundation will be.

In our upcoming "Money Smart Kids" class on October 28th, we’ll walk families through key financial concepts and go over our simple, age-appropriate budgeting system that teaches kids:

📋 How to plan for bills (yes, even kids can have “bills”!)

2024 at Polar Books looks a bit different than I imagined, but I couldn't be more grateful for this journey 💙

Looking back at this year, I'm filled with so much joy seeing how Polar Books has grown. From launching Partner With A Pro to creating new services, every milestone has been possible because of two incredible forces: our amazing clients who trust us with their businesses, and my wonderful family who supports this wild entrepreneurial journey.

Balancing entrepreneurship with motherhood is a daily adventure - sometimes it means jumping on calls before and after school, other times it's reviewing client books between playdates and family time. But you know what? Those moments of juggling it all have taught me more about efficiency and grace than any business course ever could! 😅

To our clients: thank you for being part of the Polar Books story. To my family: thank you for understanding when tax season gets crazy and for celebrating every win, big and small. And to our growing team: you make it possible to serve our community while keeping that precious work-life balance.
