How can UDC BLSA serve you?

BLSA is a "national organization formed to articulate and promote the needs and goals of black law students." UDC BLSA provides academic support for members. We provide opportunity for students to join and compete in mock trial and moot court competitions. UDC BLSA provides mentors to incoming students. We also provide information and opportunities for legal internships and job opportunities. We h

ost and engage in events that emphasize social change. We also host events to promote social engagement of our student body. UDC BLSA also holds an annual event, BLSA BALL, which is a fundraiser for a selected local community organization.

Are you a Black law student interested in becoming a public defender?

BPDA is looking for two Black law students who have secured an unpaid summer internship at a public defender office and have demonstrated financial need to serve as our inaugural BPDA Law Fellows.

Each Fellow will receive a $5,000 summer stipend and be paired with an experienced public defender member of BPDA who will serve as their mentor.

All applicants will need to 1) submit an online application; 2) submit a 1-2 page resume; 2) submit official offer letter from a public defender office verifying at least eight weeks of unpaid employment; and 3) submit unofficial transcript by March 20, 2020 by 5:00 p.m. EST.
