This weekend, two Boston EMS (Emergency Medical Services) EMTs were attacked while treating a patient at a community event.

They were simply doing their job when they were assaulted. In true EMS fashion. they finished the call. EMTs and paramedics show up for every call, no questions asked, often on someone’s worst day. They deserve better than this.

The Massachusetts Ambulance Association stands with the EMTs assaulted this weekend and with every EMS crew on shift today. We’re grateful to you.

Today, on International Overdose Awareness Day, we remember those whose lives have been lost to overdose. Across Massachusetts, purple flags are flying as part of the Purple Flag Project, a visual reminder of the lives lost to the overdose crisis and the toll it takes on families and first responders alike.

Our EMS crews are on the front lines of this epidemic every single day, and today we pause to reflect, remember, and recommit to education and prevention.

If you or someone you know is struggling with substance use, help is available. Visit Mass.gov for resources and support.

Off the clock, but never off duty 💙

PrideStar Trinity EMT Melissa Graham spotted a toddler walking alone with no adults in sight and trusted her instincts to stop and help. Because she did, a dad and his daughter were reunited in minutes.

Great job, Melissa, this is exactly the kind of compassion that makes our EMS community special.

We wanted to share another great example of one of our employees going above and beyond, this time when she wasn’t even on a call.

Recently, Melissa Graham had just finished her P6 shift and was on her way to Lowell to begin her next shift when she drove by and noticed a toddler walking alone along the street with no adults nearby.

Melissa initially continued on, but something about the situation just didn’t feel right. She turned around, pulled over and went to check on the child. After making sure she was safe, Melissa walked back in the direction the child had come from and eventually located her frantic father, who was incredibly relieved and appreciative.

A fellow employee who previously worked with Melissa shared the story with us and described her as a “kind and compassionate EMT” who quietly comes to work every day and does her job effectively.

We think that description says a lot about Melissa. There’s no way to know what might have happened had she simply continued driving, but because Melissa trusted her instincts and took the time to stop, a young child was safely reunited with her family.

Great job, Melissa, Raise the Cup! Thank you for choosing to act and for representing what PrideStar Trinity EMS is all about.
