UPDATE IN DEON KAY SHOOTING DEATH CASE: Brian Schwalb has filed appeal against Deon's mother. Just 30 days before his election. Ask yourself what message he is sending to voters? That he's going to use tax payer money any way that he sees fit regardless of whether it aligns with true Democratic values. Fighting a poor, Black mother isn't how DC voters want their tax money spent. After all, this same AG dropped his suit against the Proud Boys and the Oath Keepers last year. I had to appear in court this week on the DCPS special needs case where I represent the parents of 5 different children who were physically injured by school staff. These children are nonverbal and have complex disabilities. The District of Columbia has withheld critical evidence that it should have turned over to the parents 3 years ago. This is a blatant violation of Court rules. For this, the District must pay a penalty, but the taxpayers will be the ones to pay for the city's failure. BTW: is defending DCPS/the Mayor in this case, and is responsible for withholding evidence.

For decades, Minorities who were disenfranchised by state laws aimed at preventing them from voting have had protections backed by the US Supreme Court that allowed states to remedy those wrongs by drawing Congressional maps that strengthened the numbers of Minorities so that they could elect representatives that would stand up for them at the state and national level. Last week, the Court eliminated this protection. No one is blinded by the fact that there is a perception that the majority of the Supreme Court is politically motivated to help Republicans win in November. That perception is now backed by this decision. Mark my words, November will be a very volatile month in this Nation.

Update in Deon Kay shooting death case. has 12 days left to file an appeal. We have heard no word from him about whether he intends to pay the judgment owed to Deon's mother OR whether he will keep fighting her on the taxpayer's dime. Please join me in our fight for justice by commenting below .

Join me on Wednesday April 22, 2026 at 6pm for a reception and fundraiser focused on some of our most serious issues in DC including the Mayor's agenda to impose caps on damages that citizens receive from lawsuits or settlements where they've been injured at the hands of DC government, landlords who use intimidation tactics against tenants for trying to organize and more.
