On May 29 at noon, the Final Report of the Panel SIDH 2025 was presented, evaluating the candidates for the IACHR - Comisión Interamericana de Derechos Humanos, during an event held at the American University Washington College of Law, before members of Civil Society & Academia.

This marks a key step toward a more transparent and participatory selection of the three new commissioners who will fill the vacancies at the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights by the end of the year.

This evaluation represents an effort to strengthen the standards, transparency, suitability, and legitimacy that govern elections within the Inter-American Human Rights System.

The Independent Panel to Evaluate Candidates to the Organs of the Inter-American Human Rights System (Panel SIDH)2025, whose Secretariat is based at American University Washington College of Law under the supervision of Professor Claudia Martin, has released the Enlish version of the Final Report and the Executive Summary, which evaluates the candidaces for the three vacant positions to the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (Comisión Interamericana de Derechos Humanos).

This evaluation represents an effort to strengthen the standards, transparency, suitability, and legitimacy that govern elections within the IAHRS.

Seven member states 🇨🇴, 🇺🇸, 🇭🇳, 🇧🇷, 🇧🇸, 🇲🇽 & 🇵🇪 of the Organization of the American States have submitted candidates to fill the three vacancies that will be open to the IACHR by the end of the year.

The Panel SIDH has concluded the information-gathering and interview stages with the IACHR (Comisión Interamericana de Derechos Humanos) nominees.

Carlos Bernal Pulido nominated by 🇵🇪 declined to participate in the process.

📢 The Panel will now prepare its final report.

📌 Comunicado de Prensa

Siete Estados miembros 🇨🇴, 🇺🇸, 🇭🇳, 🇧🇷, 🇧🇸, 🇲🇽 y 🇵🇪 de la Organización de los Estados Americanos han presentado candidaturas para cubrir tres vacantes que se abrirán en la Comisión Interamericana de Derechos Humanos a finales de este año.

El Panel SIDH ha concluido las etapas de recopilación de información y entrevistas con las personas nominadas a la Comisión Interamericana de Derechos Humanos.

Carlos Bernal Pulido, nominado por 🇵🇪, declinó participar en el proceso.

📢 El Panel procederá ahora a elaborar su informe final.
