⚖️ May it please the Court!

Last week, Team BBU took part in the European Jessup Friendly Rounds and the Romanian National Rounds in Bucharest after months of intense preparation. We pleaded the case for Alekostria and Restovia, tackling challenging issues of public international law.

We are incredibly proud to share our results in the National Rounds:

Beyond the awards, this journey gave us so much more: new friendships, unforgettable moments, and an even stronger passion for international law. 🌍⚖️

From Romania attended: the team representing the Faculty of Law of Babeș-Bolyai University and the team representing the Faculty of Law of the University of Bucharest.

May it please the court.

Just wanted to share some awesome news from last week's adventure in Bratislava at the European Jessup Friendly and National Rounds! 🌍🏛️ We're already missing the buzz of the international experience – playing moot courts with Europe's best, diving into Sterren Forty case debates on international law, and soaking in the wisdom from our awesome judges!

Therefore, we are so excited to share with you that our results prove the value and passion invested in those challenging written and oral phases of the competition. BBU Team won Best Memorial on behalf of the Respondent in the National Rounds and our rockstar Hanes Eduardo-Mirel was Runner-Up Oralist in the National Rounds.

Big shoutout to our fantastic coaches, Gabriela Danila and Madalina Gabriela Bumb – they were our guiding lights throughout this adventure, and their love for international law has also stuck with us! 🤝 Also, a huge thank you to our main sponsor, Alexandru Risnita, and Costaș, Negru & Asociații – without their awesome support, this journey wouldn't have been possible.

Last but not least, our fourth and final pleading member is Hanes Eduardo.

Eduardo, currently in his third year at Babeș-Bolyai University, is an active and dedicated student within the Faculty of Law. He fervently participates in extracurricular activities and his engagement with various projects, organizing events, and contributing to non-profit organizations showcase his commitment to making a positive impact beyond the academic realm.
His enthusiasm for leadership is evident in his approach to extracurriculars. Eduardo not only participates but takes on significant roles, exemplifying his belief in leading by example. His involvement in the Telders International Law Moot Court Competition and volunteering for the Romanian Journal of International Law underscores his passion for international law.
This academic year, Eduardo brings his expertise to the BBU Jessup Team, recognizing the paramount importance of a well-prepared team for success. Meet Răzvan, a third-year law student with an insatiable curiosity for all things international. From unravelling the complexities of history to navigating the intricacies of diplomacy and politics, Răzvan's diverse interests converge in the realm of international law.
As the General Secretary of SAIL - Students' Academy of International Law, he's on a mission to spread the joy of international law.

The second member of our team is Alexandru Salomie.

Alex is a second-year Law student at Babeș Bolyai University who tries to change at least some of the things he used to complain about. He sometimes watches the news and hopes that law and activism go hand in hand. The passion for finding solutions to complex problems brought him to Jessup after taking part in several international debating competitions, journalism and volunteering projects. It's time to introduce this year's team members, beginning with Andrei Hârcăian.

Andrei is a third-year Law student at Babeș-Bolyai University who is passionate about international law. A voracious reader and a competitive spirit, he’s ready to face this challenge. Other areas of interest include: sports law, law of obligations, contract law, geopolitics, satirical journalism and the environmental effects of the development of industrial fishing in the African seas.
