As we dive into 2024, it's a perfect opportunity to reflect on the twists and turns of 2023 that could warrant an estate plan review 📆

Here's a quick checklist to ensure your plan accurately mirrors your current situation:

🔵 Life Milestones - Major life events like marriages, divorces, and welcoming new family members may call for updates to your estate plan.

📊 Tax Implications - Tax laws can change yearly, affecting your estate's financial aspects. Especially if your financial circumstances have shifted, tax considerations could influence your estate plan.

📜 Beneficiary Updates - It's vital to double-check that your chosen beneficiaries are current and reflect your wishes accurately.

💰 Asset Dynamics - Your assets may grow or evolve over time. Your estate plan should adapt to these changes, safeguarding them and ensuring proper distribution.

This checklist provides a general overview, but we’re also here to offer personalized guidance. Feel free to send us a message or call the office to discuss!

It’s the spookiest time of the year again! 💀

In the spirit of spooky season, we wanted to share a few helpful tips to keep you and your family stay safe and worry-free this Halloween:

🎃 Carry flashlights or wear reflective costumes to ensure you’re easily seen by passing cars, and encourage children to look before walking on the road.

🎃 Help your child choose costumes that fit well and don’t obstruct vision or movement. A great costume can still be safe!

🎃 Be extra careful when crossing the street. Drinking and driving is, unfortunately, very common on Halloween. Take extra care while traveling or trick-or-treating.

🎃 Carefully inspect candy before indulging in late-night treats. In particular, look for signs of tampering, including discoloration/unusual appearance and tiny holes or tears in the wrapping.

🎃 If your furry friends join in on the Halloween fun, make sure all dogs are on a leash or securely indoors to avoid escape or accidents.

Let us know in the comments what YOU are dressing up for this Halloween! 🦇👻

Did you know that 67% of Americans have no estate plan? 🤯

🙌🔒 Estate planning is like a safety net for your loved ones, ensuring your assets and wishes are taken care of when you're no longer around. Plus, it can save your family from a whole lot of headaches and disputes.

Have you considered these seven common estate planning mistakes?

1️⃣ Making no last will and testament or living will
2️⃣ Identifying only one beneficiary
3️⃣ Not discussing your end-of-life wishes with loved ones
4️⃣ Designating assets that may change or no longer exist at the time of your death
5️⃣ Not accounting for estate taxes
6️⃣ Never updating your will after making one
7️⃣ Failing to specify legal guardians for your children

It’s time for a pop quiz 🎉 True or False: Once you’ve signed your estate plan, you’re set for life.

The correct answer is … false. In general, you should review your estate plan:

🖋️ Every 3-5 years or

🖋️ When a major life event occurs

Keeping your estate plan up to date ensures that what you really want will be carried out after you pass or if you’re incapacitated for some reason.

Been a bit (or a lot) longer than three to five years since you’ve reviewed your estate plan? 😬 Have no fear, our team of experts is here to help!

Give us a call or shoot us an email, and we’ll get the ball rolling.
