Happy Independence Day from the attorneys and staff at Siegel Law Firm 🇺🇸

For our team, this holiday is just as much about the 1940s and World War II as it is about 1776.

Below is a map which highlights the nightmare journey of battles fought by the United States’ Army’s 78th Infantry Division–known as “Lightning Trike Twice”—in the European Theater of World War II.

Sam Siegel, a Jewish American foot soldier in the U.S. 78th, served his country with courage until he was eventually hit by German shrapnel when he attempted to rescue another soldier during the last N**i offensive of World War II, the Battle of the Bulge. Sam bled out–alone–on the battlefield for 16 hours, and he managed to survive.

Sam made it home to his wife, Leona, and their two daughters, but with only one leg. Neither his grandson, Joseph Siegel, nor his son, Paul Siegel, would be alive today had Sam not had the strength to survive what he survived.

Anyone in Walterboro old enough to remember Mr. Sam will tell you that he never let those harrowing experiences prevent him from living a life full of serving his family and so many others. While Sam was not an attorney, he was much more than that, and he is the reason that Siegel Law Firm stands today.

Our team is committed to practicing law with the same values and mindset that carried Sam for a lifetime. He helped people who needed it, he cared about them, and he did it one person at a time.

Our founding partner attributes much of his ability to provide quality representation for his clients to his time at Pinewood.

Joseph still remembers debating political and moral issues in the late Mr. Mandell’s debate class. He remembers Pinewood’s English Teacher, Mr. Ruddy, standing up for him in his first week at Pinewood in an uncomfortable situation. He remembers Mr. Diffley giving him the underserved honor of speaking to the school at an MLK event. He remembers learning how to fight through mentally and physically challenging time through the thousands of miles he ran on the cross country and track teams with Coach Kelly.

✨ Pinewood Alumnus Spotlight: Joseph Siegel ‘15

Joseph Siegel graduated from Pinewood Prep in 2015. He attended Clemson, C of C, and the University of South Carolina School of Law. Joseph spent the last two years as an associate at two firms, and he is proud to announce the opening of Siegel Law Firm in Walterboro and Beaufort. Joseph is a trial lawyer who serves clients across South Carolina.
