EXPANDING OUR PRACTICE
Dear Friends,
For more than three decades, I have limited my practice to asbestos cases. We will continue to represent men and women diagnosed with asbestosis, lung cancer, and mesothelioma. The good news is that there are fewer cases because fewer people are being diagnosed with asbestos-related diseases. The regulations adopted in the 1970s virtually banning the use of asbestos in the United States worked. Asbestos case filings are down across the nation, including our case filings. Therefore, we are re-tooling our practice to adjust to these changing times.
I. Family Law Practice
Engrained deep within my soul is my desire for everyone to be okay. Often, though, people experience times when they are not okay. Grief is grief, no matter its source. People suffering through a dread diagnosis deserve our compassion and empathy; people suffering because of the demise of an important relationship deserve our compassion and empathy, too.
We collaborate with opposing counsel and seek innovative ways to resolve seemingly irresolvable issues. We conduct ourselves with a good measure of dignity & grace, no matter how difficult the circumstances, and we expect everyone involved to do the same. Our goal in family law is to guide people through a dark passage to a better place where they can, again, be okay. It is a tough road.
II. Bankruptcy Practice
Rising inflation, major layoffs in tech, and economic uncertainty have forced people to consider bankruptcy. We explore the issues surrounding bankruptcy filings and help our clients
make well-reasoned decisions.
Unfortunately, many people equate financial loss with personal failure. In most instances, this is not true. More likely, they are victims of a shifting job market, an economic downturn, or merciless CEO intent on downsizing the workforce to please shareholders. People closely identify with their work and losing a job often equates to losing one’s identity. A provider and protector becomes neither or at least feels that way.
We encourage them to fight their way back. Though filing for bankruptcy protection will not solve all their problems, it can be an essential step toward financial security. It won’t be easy.
Again, a tough road.
III. Asbestos Practice
As the son of an Asbestos Plant Worker, I will never turn away a person suffering from an asbestos-related disease. Despite the near-eradication of asbestosis, more than 3,500 people
are diagnosed with mesothelioma annually. Though mesothelioma is a terminal disease, medical science is developing immunotherapies that give us a whisper of hope that one day there will be a cure. Until that day arrives, we are here because we know what asbestos disease can do to a person and their family.
