I don’t know how but Tony Serra and I somehow managed to get a NOT GUILTY verdict on the 1st degree murder charge our client was facing. We’ve been in this San Jose 4-co-D gang trial since June!

They did find him guilty of 2nd degree murder, but he could be out in 6 years.

Jury hung on all other charges (strongly in favor of our guy), including the robbery, assault and all the gang enhancements and gang charge. The DA must’ve spent 2 weeks alone on all the gang evidence.

2 of the 3 other co-Ds also went down on 2nd. DA was fuming when the verdict was read. 😄

There’s a lot going on behind the scenes these days. Trial preparation in TWO murder cases, dozens of weekly appearances on my misdemeanor cases, 5-10 calls a day from San Quentin inmates, and today I’m substituting in on a 40-felony-count attempted murder case.

I love what I do!

My quote here needs some elaboration: If Mayor Schaaf and the DAs claim that city officials can’t be blamed bc they “weren’t trained” to recognize the fire code violations, then how on Earth should 26 year old artist Max Harris be expected to recognize it? Criminally negligent of him not to?! I don’t think so. Not guilty based on that alone.

A jury ended its first full day of deliberation Thursday without reaching a verdict in the trial of two men facing 36 involuntary manslaughter charges for the 2016 fire at Oakland's Ghost Ship warehouse, according to CNN affiliate KGO.

It's an honor to work on this case with Curtis Briggs and Tony Serra.

As the news of Gov. Newsom's moratorium rippled through the prison, one inmate says there were no celebrations, no cheers among the 737 condemned men on the largest death row in the United States
