Can grandparents seek visitation?

Yes, sometimes. In Virginia, grandparents are considered people with a “legitimate interest” in a child and may petition the court for visitation. However, visitation is not automatically guaranteed.

✔️Get everything in writing. Verbal agreements can lead to misunderstandings about what was and wasn’t included. Your contract should clearly spell out the scope of work, materials, timeline, payment schedule, and total cost.
✔️ Understand the payment terms. Be cautious about large upfront payments and make sure you understand when payments are due.
✔️ Ask about permits. Certain projects require permits, and you should know who is responsible for obtaining them.
✔️Confirm insurance coverage.
✔️ Know how changes will be handled. If the project changes, make sure additions or changes to the original agreement are documented in writing.

✅A good contract protects both sides.

➡️Probate is the legal process of proving the will is valid, identifying assets, paying debts/taxes, and distributing what’s left to the beneficiaries.

💙So, if your assets are only covered by a will, your estate may still have to go through probate.
💙 Certain assets can avoid probate altogether, such as assets with named beneficiaries, jointly owned property with rights of survivorship, and assets held in certain trusts.
