The 9th Annual Eliza Hope Foundation Hope Shines Gala was held Friday night, and I was honored to attend with ten colleagues and spouses.

The Eliza Hope Foundation offers a dedicated therapy center in Virginia Beach that brings needed services, support, and resources to children with autism and their families.

I value the work The Eliza Hope Foundation does in our community, and I am proud that my firm played a part in its expansion by clearing more than six thousand dollars of wish list items and putting everything together during a firm sponsored volunteer day.

I am honored to serve on the board of the and to champion the vital work being done at the Eliza Hope Therapy Center.

This video offers a glimpse into the wide range of services available to children with autism and other developmental delays in Hampton Roads. Each child receives personalized care, including speech therapy, occupational therapy, and physical therapy, delivered through partnerships with and other trusted local providers.

It was a privilege to appear on Living 757 as a board member, alongside Kiley Elward, the Vice President of Development & Fundraising, to help raise awareness about the impactful work taking place at the Center.

After moving into our new office, we noticed trash in the woods and marsh behind us leading to the Lynnhaven River.

This morning, attorneys, staff, and families from Wolcott Rivers Gates came together and removed nearly 750 pounds of debris from the surrounding area.

“Can my child choose which parent to live with?”

No.

In Virginia, children do not get to make custody decisions. The court may consider a child’s preference, but only if the child is old enough, mature enough, and the court finds the opinion is reasonable.

It is one of ten factors under Virginia Code § 20-124.3—not the deciding factor.

A preference may matter, but it does not control the outcome.
