🇺🇸 Happy Labor Day Weekend!
Our offices will be closed Monday, September 7th in observance of Labor Day. Our Vandergrift office will reopen Tuesday, September 8th and our Kittanning office will reopen on Wednesday, September 9th.
Labor Day has deep roots in Pennsylvania and Western Pennsylvania. The holiday grew out of the late-19th-century labor movement, and Pennsylvania was among the states that officially adopted Labor Day before it became a federal holiday in 1894.
Here in our region, the history is especially meaningful. Pittsburgh’s first recorded Labor Day parade dates to 1887, and by 1914, approximately 35,000 union members participated in Pittsburgh’s Labor Day parade.
Vandergrift was founded in 1895 as a planned industrial community built around the steel industry and its workers, making it a fascinating part of Western Pennsylvania’s labor and industrial history.
This Labor Day, we pause to recognize the workers—past and present—whose efforts helped build our communities, our industries, and our country.
Have a safe and happy Labor Day! 🇺🇸
