Starting June 2026, Washington’s new cooling device law gives tenants more rights when it comes to installing portable air conditioners and cooling units in rental homes.

What does this mean?
✔️ Tenants may now install certain cooling devices
✔️ Property managers can still require proper written notice
✔️ Safety and installation guidelines still apply
