Why we should appreciate law enforcement: We as a society need individuals to handle the unpleasant matters which keep us civilized. There is the physical aspect of holding lawbreakers accountable, from simply trying to restrain those that do not want to be and will not cooperate with following commands, to the foot chases, car chases and in some situations the shootouts. But aside from all that, law enforcement officers check in on the homeless on the streets and in the camps in the small sections of the woods we don't notice from the roads as we drive by. They deal with those struggling with mental health. They visit homes in deplorable conditions where the elderly or children are neglected and living in squalor. And then there is the death, so much death whether from homicide, su***de, accident or even natural causes. Not every cop sees it every day but, any cop can see it any given day. Imagine for a second, the physical, mental and emotional toll this can take on a person. This is why we need to appreciate the men and women in law enforcement.
