📍Before I dive in—something funny (and a little embarrassing)… This video was from last night. My husband and I were talking through a group ride up the GoPro mountain bike race track at Golden Peak. I was nervous… and made it 200 yards up a steep climb before turning around.😞Meanwhile, my 60-year-old husband crushed all 8 miles with a 1500 ft climb(Strava), flipped over his handlebars (he’s fine!), and kept going. 💪🏼

Now—back to the post…

👉 If we were relocating to Colorado today, we’d still choose Eagle. We absolutely love living here! But I can see why people look at other Vail Valley towns like Edwards or Avon etc — each one offers something different.

👉It really comes down to your lifestyle. Do you want to be near the slopes with walk-to-lift access and a buzzing resort feel? Or do you want more space, a quieter pace, and a bit more affordability down valley—while still being just a short drive to the mountain?

👉We don’t mind driving 25-30 minutes instead of 2.5+ from Denver and very rarely is there traffic going east from Eagle to Vail. We are just very happy to be able to live in such an amazing place. 💥

Thinking about buying? Comment “guide” and I’ll send you my free relocation breakdown from Vail to Gypsum.

📍When the best part of your week is leaving Denver, that tells you something.

We lived in Atlanta through 2021.
Decades of life there. Careers. Kids. Everything.

When Colorado started calling louder,
we moved to the Denver metro while we figured out our next move.

Denver was fine.
But the traffic was heavy. Constant.
I 25. I 70. Construction. Accidents.
Denver consistently ranks among the most congested metros in the U.S.,
with average commutes hovering around 30 minutes each way, and often much more.

And the homelessness was hard to ignore.
Encampments along highways.
Tents under overpasses.
It sat with us, whether we talked about it or not.

What saved us
were the weekends.

Every Friday, we pointed the car west.
The mountains were the exhale.

At first, it was a reset from Denver.
But it was always the plan.

We had been coming to the Vail Valley for decades.
We just needed time
and the right town that actually fit how we wanted to live.

Those drives weren’t about escaping.
They were about confirming what we already knew.

Fast forward.
Kids grown.
House quieter.
That empty nester moment where you finally ask,
“Where do we want to wake up next?”

For us, the answer never changed.
We just took the long way there.

Now, instead of fighting traffic every weekend to get to the mountains
we live here.

If you’re in Denver and counting down to Friday afternoon
or you’re considering a second home or investment you’ll actually use
this might be your season.
