Lucerne, train station. Most stations have parking for 7-10k bikes. In Amsterdam, cuz it’s built on a swamp, the bikes are stored under water level. It is the #1 personal activity here. Followed by camping (they have 6 weeks vacation!).

In Amsterdam, they are terrorists. Bikes have the right of way over pedestrians. Don’t even think of stepping in their lane! In Germany and Switzerland, they at least ring their bell in advance. Polite!

There is a 6 week class to get a bike permit. For those who remember, I guess it’s a lot like our driver’s ed. Everyone has 3 bikes: 1 be**er bike for the city (almost no one has super nice bikes as they may get stolen. The Use and Drop off rental bikes are popular). Bikes are often not locked. 2nd bike is a mountain bike. 3rd bike is an electric bike for those living/traveling in the hills.

When we checked in yesterday we had some time prior to our room being ready. Since Lucerne has a heavy French influence, I decided to find my favorite dessert of all time.

My mom used to bring it home from her favorite bakery at least once a month. It has well since closed and it's been a long search to find someone who makes this.

I'm telling you this story because not one, but 2 individuals were on my quest as well. They are the polar opposite of Dikran & Deryan (servers from
our German cruise. Most of the staff was excellent).

I approached our concierge, who is French and asked if he knew of any French bakers in town. If so, perhaps they made a Napoleon?
