If you know me, you know I love a good conference!

One of the best parts of this profession is the people. I always enjoy the opportunity to connect with other lawyers, learn from different perspectives, and build relationships with people who are passionate about serving others through the law.

Getting to attend the SEABOTA conference in Charleston was especially meaningful this year while serving as President of SEABOTA. It was such a rewarding few days filled with great conversations, thoughtful presentations, and time spent with colleagues and friends from across the Southeast.

I’m grateful for every opportunity to continue learning, growing, and connecting with others in the legal community.

Now the question is… will I see you at the Alabama Association for Justice seminar in June? Ginger Avery, Johnnie Smith, James Able and the entire ALAJ team have been hard at work setting up an amazing conference.

The older I get, the more I realize that success is not always measured by titles, awards, or even the outcome of a single case. Success can look very different depending on the season of life you are in, and I think that is important to remember.

There are seasons where we are pushing hard professionally, taking on new challenges, and growing in ways that stretch us. There are also seasons where our focus shifts more toward family, friendships, health, or simply finding balance again. Neither season is wrong, and neither one makes you any less successful.

For me, success has always been about doing meaningful work, treating people with respect, and staying grounded in my values no matter what season I am in. I want to be proud not only of the work I do, but also of the way I do it.

At the end of the day, I think real success is being able to look at your life and genuinely like who you are, what you do, and how you choose to do it.
