You know what they say about people in small towns. I don’t really know but I do know about older houses in Lindale They creak. They groan. They settle like an old man into his favorite recliner... slowly, and with just enough noise to let you know they’ve been through some things.
And maybe that’s why I loved this one.It was just a little red brick house, with a little green yard, on a plain little street in Lindale, Texas. Nothing fancy. But it had heart. You could tell by the way the storm door slapped shut just a little too fast.. or how the back porch light never quite flickered out, no matter how many times you tried to fix it.
The man who owned it before me had fallen behind. Life does that sometimes. Bills stack up, relationships goes south, and suddenly the home you raised your kids in starts slipping away. But we stood chating in the driveway one evening... 2 guys with more in common than we realized, and made a deal that worked for both of us.
I stopped the foreclosure, bought the house fast, and gave him a way out with his dignity intact. He had a place to stay 'cause he wouldn't even live in there but really need a vehicle so I did what any man would do, I put the my wife's vehicle in his name. Just for the record, I'm sorry Adrianna, again.
I held onto that place for over a couple years. Kept it up. Made the payments. Even fixed that storm door. And just today, I sold it to the tenant who’d been living there, a guy who loved the house like it was his own from the moment he stepped in the door.
Sometimes, life has a funny way of working out like that. They say houses are just wood and nails. But I don’t buy it. I think it's a tool to start relationships with people and an opportunity to help change their life, mine included. If you need me for any crazy question about real estate, please don't hesitate.
