The Veterans Legal Institute's annual Lawyers for Warriors fundraiser is THE event that I look forward to volunteering at every year. This organization goes beyond the scope of legal work. Thanks to Antoinette NB and her staff, I am no longer homeless and I am a new resident of Placentia Veterans Village.
Thank you so much for my housewarming gift of VLA Lawyers for Warriors wine glasses. I will be sure to put them to good use while I continue to shelter in place. Antoinette thank you. You will always be my CO and I will always follow your orders. Happy Veterans Day and a Big Salute to you!!
At the last Town Hall Meeting that was held by the Mayor of Irvine, Christina Shea and Council member, Anthony Kuo, this was the discussion...
Should the Veterans Memorial Park and Cemetery be built at the original location, known as the ARDA site, or, at a Golf Course site that is located in the Great Park?
Many homeowners that attended this meeting stated that their homes were right near the Golf Course site. They said that when they purchased their homes they were told by Lennar (aka FivePoint) that this site was going to be a Golf Course. These homeowners stated they would never have purchased their homes if they knew it was going to be a Cemetery. One homeowner said if they had to chose, they would chose the ARDA site that is not in the Great Park and is away from their home.
Needless to say, as much as Christina Shea and Anthony Kuo were pushing their FivePoint scheme to allow FivePoint to lease the ARDA site and build on it whatever they want down the road, and build the Veterans Cemetery at the Golf Course site instead, the homeowners were having no part of it! Never mind what the homeowners were promised, Shea and Kuo didn’t seem to care. In fact, Anthony Kuo was asked if he was being paid by FivePoint. His response was that councilmembers only make about $800 a month. So I guess that meant it was okay for him to accept money from a developer for his part-time job on the council.
Christina Shea was asked why Larry Agran wants the ARDA site and what’s in it for him? Her response was he just doesn’t like FivePoint. Hmmmm.....I think he has good reason, Christina.
Hi there,
New guy here. I was told by a fellow vet that this may be the place where I might find some answer to a problem I've been recently having with TriCare. Without going into to much detail, this is how the issue unfolded.
In 2017 I was looking for insurance on the government marketplace when I was informed that I was eligible for Tricare. To be honest, I was out of the loop for so long I didn't know what Tricare was.
So, I ended up receiving a confirmation letter from DEERs via the DOD. I even took a screen capture from the MilConnect website. Also received an ID Card.
Everything was going well for two years until Oct 2019. I went to get my prescription filled as usual and was told by the pharmacy that I had no insurance. WHAT??!!
I contacted DEERS and was informed I was never eligible. Keep in mind I never received anything from them informing me of a change in status.
Now, on Dec. 31st I was informed by Express Scripts that I owe them over $9000.00 dollars for prescriptions filled over thge last two years.
The reason giving for my ineligibility was TDRL.
My question is do I have any legal recourse to avoid paying out for medical services which I thought were covered? Bear in mind Tricare did payout over the last two years and I have my 2017 1095 form showing coverage.
Hello. Can you refer me to a Veterans Legal Service Institute similar to yours, that is not associated with the VA, near Chicago, Illinois? Thank you. Timothy R. Collins, former Chicago Police Officer, (enlisted rank), and former 82nd Airborne Division, Military Police, Vietnam era, non-combat assigned.
For Arizona veterans.
THANK YOU, Antoinette, for all you do!
Please help for legal advice. I am a veteran of the US Army. Keep giving me wrong electric bills and forcing me to pay on that. Please view the image. V/R
