Our client, Myra Garcia, suffered a serious leg fracture after tripping while entering an elevator that misleveled in a downtown Los Angeles office building. The California Court of Appeal held that the trial court wrongly dismissed her premises liability and negligence claims because evidence created a triable issue as to whether the property owner created the dangerous condition. Atticus Injury Law successfully secured the reversal of summary judgment, sending these claims back to the trial court for further proceedings. This is a huge win for our client—and a powerful reminder that we fight relentlessly when our clients have been wrongfully denied their day in court.

While this lawsuit is about my name, it involves much more than me. It raises important questions about the future of the legal profession, the role of legal technology, attorney referral services, and the ethical rules (The State Bar of California) designed to protect clients and preserve the independence of lawyers. Excess jury verdict against State Farm in Orange County. Despite defendant attempting to downplay a vicious dog attack on our client, the jury saw past the games and awarded our client what we consistently told State Farm would be the result—a substantial verdict. It matters who your are.
