Oklahoma Policy Institute (OK Policy) is a non-partisan independent policy think-tank. It was launched in early 2008, growing out of work that had previously been conducted by the public policy department of Community Action Project of Tulsa County. Our Mission

In our efforts to promote equitable, responsible, and sustainable fiscal and economic policies, OK Policy collaborates with two national networks of state-level policy research organizations, the State Fiscal Analysis Initiative (SFAI) and the Economic Analysis and Research Network (EARN). We also play a leading role in two Oklahoma coalitions. Together Oklahoma is a nonpartisan coalition of businesses, organizations, and citizens coming together to advocate for responsible budget and tax policies. The Oklahoma Assets Network is a diverse coalition of individuals and organizations that promotes measures to help all Oklahomans build stronger financial foundations.

Every budget is a reflection of values.

Oklahoma has the resources to build strong schools, healthy communities, reliable infrastructure, and an economy that works for everyone. The question is whether our policy choices actually prioritize those things.

And right now, too many Oklahomans are being left behind. 📉

Oklahoma must raise the minimum wage. Too many hardworking Oklahomans still struggle to afford food, housing, and child care — even while working full-time jobs.

A higher minimum wage would help families achieve greater financial stability, reduce reliance on public assistance programs, and put more money back into local economies.

It’s time to raise the wage floor in Oklahoma.

🏠 Since Oklahoma last raised the minimum wage in 2009, median rent has increased 64%. 🏠

Minimum wage workers now need to work 93 hours a week to afford a 1-bedroom apartment — or 116 hours for a 2-bedroom.

Working Oklahomans deserve wages that can actually cover basic needs. Vote yes on SQ 832 this June. 🗳️

The June election includes important races and State Question 832, which would gradually raise Oklahoma’s minimum wage. If you want to vote, make sure you’re registered before the deadline.
