📢 Great News for SSDI Claimants!
The December 2025 Social Security Cost-of-Living Adjustment (COLA) will bring an increase to monthly disability benefits to all Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) receipients. COLA adjustments help ensure your benefits keep up with inflation and the rising cost of everyday essentials.

Social Security announced a 2.8% benefit increase for 2026. This will increase the average monthly SSDI benefit for disability beneficiaries from $1,586 to $1,630. The SSI Federal Payment Standard will increase to $994/month for an individual and $1,491/month for a couple. The SSI Resource limits are fixed by statute and will remain unchanged. The COLA will take effect beginning in January 2026.

How long will the benefits be paid?

SSDI benefits are often paid for as long as you are unable to work. In most cases, the SSA will continue paying these benefits until you can work again on a regular basis. The SSA also provides an incentive for workers to transition back to work, such as health coverage and continued benefits. If the benefits are paid out until you reach full retirement age, they are automatically converted into retirement benefits.
