On my terms.

After years of practicing law the way others needed me to, I finally made the leap a month ago, and I’m only left wondering what the heck took me so long.

Rhiannon Thoreson Law, PLLC is my firm. My cases.
My clients. The work I actually believe in.

And the work I believe in most? Representing crime victims.

Victims have constitutional rights in Oklahoma - rights that exist on paper but too often go unenforced because no one is standing in the gap to assert them.
That changes with me in the room. Whether it’s fighting for a victim’s right to be heard, to be protected, or to be treated with dignity by a system that too often forgets they exist - that’s the representation I was built to provide.

I also handle other legal matters, and I maintain an of counsel relationship with a firm I respect. But this - showing up for people the system has overlooked over and over again - is why I built something of my own.

If you or someone you love needs an advocate who will fight for your rights as a crime victim, please reach out.

Looking forward to speaking at the Oklahoma Bar Association Midyear Conference next month.

I’ll be presenting “The Art of Giving Feedback to Associates” - a session focused on one of the most important (and often overlooked) parts of developing young lawyers: meaningful performance feedback.

Too often, associates receive little guidance beyond redlines, silence, or criticism without context. Good feedback doesn’t just improve work product; it builds confidence, strengthens teams, improves retention, and ultimately develops better attorneys.

We’ll be talking about practical strategies for giving feedback that is clear, constructive, growth-oriented, and actually useful.

If you’re attending, I’d love to see you there. I’ll drop the registration link in the comments.

You know you may be attempting to create new law when you stump the Appellate Court Clerk and she has to consult with someone else because she’s “never seen anything like this before.”

Oklahoma Bar Journal When Rights Aren't Enough A Survivor-Attorney's Critique of Victims' Rights in Oklahoma and Beyond By Rhiannon K. I’ve had some inquiries since closing up shop about where to turn for estate planning. If you’re in the Tulsa area, I highly recommend either Helton Law Firm or Littleton Legal PLLC. Scott Helton and Brittany Littleton and their teams are not only great attorneys, but great people to know in general. You’d be in good hands with both of those firms!

When’s the last time you updated your estate plan?

An estate plan is a living document. It should evolve over time and reflect your current assets, family situation, work status, and interests. It’s a good idea to revisit these legal documents every five or so years to make sure that the estate plan still reflects your wishes. You should also update your estate plan after major life events such as purchasing a home, getting married or divorced, having children, or after an inheritance.

I have to admit that I’m overdue in updating mine as circumstances have changed. Maybe you’re overdue as well. I’d be happy to help you with yours!
