Rhiannon K. Thoreson, Attorney at Law

Rhiannon K. Thoreson, Attorney at Law Litigator and survivor advocate. You deserve fierce, informed representation.

I represent survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence, and other crimes, because I know what it means to navigate this path as both a survivor myself and as an attorney.

Every time I share something from my “author” page to this one, I have to stop and ask myself, is this related to my practice of law? I sometimes have trouble separating myself from the many hats I wear!

But yes, this one is. The attorney I am today and the clients I now choose to represent, are all because of what is in my memoir. My evolution from victim, sitting in a courtroom on the witness stand, to many, many years and struggles later, to attorney, arguing on behalf of other victims and survivors, was no small feat.

The work I do today is 100% shaped by what I went through. The struggle, the tears, the fear, the missteps, all of it led me to THIS.

It’s a big day for my Book Launch Team!

I just sent out the PDF of My Beauty from Ashes to everyone who signed up to walk this journey with me early - and my heart is so full. Thank you for believing in this book before it even hits shelves!

Haven’t joined yet? Good news: it’s not too late. The Book Launch Team is still open, and if you sign up now, you’ll get early access to my memoir too.

This book is my story of resilience, survival, and rebuilding, the highs and the lows, and I wrote it for anyone who’s ever had to find their way back from the ashes.

Link to join is in the comments. Come be part of this with me.

Survivors are tired of being victimized by the very system that is supposed to help bring about “justice.”

Prosecutors, you’re on notice.

When a U.S. Supreme Court Justice is planning a return trip to Tulsa and you get invites to two different events she’ll be at, you start rearranging your schedule!

I once was the victim in the courtroom, fighting back tears on the witness stand, only to fall apart on the bench in the courthouse hall. I once vowed to never set foot in a courtroom again.

But now? Now I’m an attorney and my practice includes representing those brave victims and survivors of crime. Whether it’s pushing for their constitutional rights to be honored by the system or pursuing civil accountability for their harm, it’s work that I’m proud to be able to offer. Because we all need someone in our corner.

Every so often I get to write about something that matters a lot to me in this profession: taking care of each other. My latest piece for the Tulsa Lawyer magazine, “Attorney Wellness Revisited,” looks at what a decade of new research tells us about mental health and substance use among lawyers, and what’s actually changed (and hasn’t) since the landmark 2016 study.

If you’re an Oklahoma lawyer, save this number: 800-364-7886. That’s the OBA’s Lawyers Helping Lawyers hotline. It’s confidential, free, and there for exactly the moments this article is about.

Digital version of the magazine linked in the comments.

I’m scheduled to present two different sessions at this event. Hope to see many of you there.

The conversations we have today shape the lives we protect tomorrow.

The Beyond Awareness Educational Summit is more than a conference. It's where educators, law enforcement, medical professionals, counselors, social workers, faith leaders, parents, and community members come together with one purpose: protecting children.

This November, we're bringing together nationally recognized experts and local leaders to equip our community with the knowledge and tools needed to recognize, prevent, and respond to child trafficking and exploitation.

Invite a colleague. Register your team. Share this post with someone who is passionate about protecting children. Together, we can build a community that is informed, equipped, and ready to make a difference.

The fight against child trafficking begins with awareness, but it doesn't end there. It ends when communities choose to act.

Register today and be part of the movement.
