A new Oklahoma law could give families waiting years, or even decades, for answers another chance at justice.

Under the new law, families of crime victims can request a fresh review of a cold case. The review must involve investigators who were not part of the original investigation and can include new DNA testing, forensic techniques and witness interviews.

With advocates estimating that as many as 1,000 Oklahoma families are still waiting for answers, the law could bring renewed attention to cases that have long gone unsolved.
