Monday we got a message about a teenager who needed clothes quickly. I was concerned our “store” wasn’t set up perfectly and she would not have a great experience. Her foster mom assured me it was fine. We let them in to Kee’s Kloset and gave them all the time they wanted to “shop” for clothes. When they were done, this girl had the sweetest smile. I explained after our 8/1 donation day, we would have a lot more for her to choose from and asked her if she had any questions. She did…. “Can I volunteer and help you guys?”….

I had to will myself to not cry right in front of her. This young girl is going through any child’s worst nightmare. And her only question… was how she could help.

Guys… when you think about scrolling by. Not making time to clean out your closet, taking 30 minutes to drive by, make a financial donation or drop of some great clothes for kids in need. Please….. think of these teens. Think of what they are dealing with. What they are going through…. And STILL….. “how can I help?” was the only question she had.

Teens in foster care. They have so many needs. Today, as you read this… don’t.scroll.by. Commit to these kids…. I. Will. Help. 💚💚💚

Never have I ever been more proud of her. My daughter completed her AP research project about the Oklahoma foster system, and last night gave the presentation. She surprised us with this last slide.

My daughter is doing an AP Research paper on the effects of being in foster care in adulthood. She is looking for adults (ages 18-25) to participate in a survey. The goal of her paper is to identify the long term effects of being in foster care and identify resources and lack of resources in our community. If you would be willing to participate or know someone willing to participate, please email Ragon Francy at [email protected] - the survey will be sent out in a few months. She is currently in the process of collecting participants.

368,530 of children in the United States are in foster care, so it would take 5 NFL stadiums to hold all of the children in the foster care system.

Every 81 seconds a child enters the foster care system, so during the game 178 children will enter the foster care system.

20-23,000 teenagers age out every year and 20% are immediately homeless. (That means approximately 2300 aged out so far this year)

Americans will spend $18.6 BILLION dollars celebrating the Super Bowl this year.

If you’re wondering where our country’s priorities are…. I’d say those statistics say a lot.

On another note - haven’t seen any legislation this year addressing these issues. ✝️✝️✝️✝️

🌲🌲🌲It’s Christmas time!!! 🌲🌲🌲🌲

We are looking for nominations for teenagers in foster care, ages 13-18 to surprise with Christmas gifts in Oklahoma. We would love to hear from teachers, foster parents, social workers, judges etc!

Presents will be delivered or picked up by the person who nominated the child and the gift will be FROM YOU! We just want to make sure some really deserving kids have an excellent Christmas!

Please send us an email telling us about your kiddo, and why we should choose them! Please have all nominations emailed by Monday December 9th at 5 pm. We are going to try to meet as many needs as possible!
