You know that feeling when a smell or flavor brings back a vivid memory? Well, I just had a bite of a Chile arbol salsa that brought back the amazing memory. I first tried it at a bbq welcoming my client home from county after a not guilty verdict on 10 life counts. It was a beautiful experience, among many others like it. That client, like a few others, has since live a beautiful life and started a family. I’ve had a couple of really cool experiences like that, met some people who helped me better understand the world, and some friends and family for life.
Now, unfortunately, I also know that some of my exceptional work and dedication resulted in future bad acts, including murders. Ultimately they’re not “my fault” but they may very well not have happened if not for me. That’s a heavy realization. Something I have had to confront, and accept - with occasional doubts.
At the end of the day, I love my career and the opportunity to help my clients through such daunting times in their lives.
