To all of my friends, colleagues, and clients:
As you already know we are dealing with an extreme situation with COVID and the mixed messages we receive from sources offer little comfort and no solutions. For the foreseeable future, I cannot meet with you at my home, nor at my office, which is directly behind my home. As a "country lawyer" it is not unusual for folks to just show up without an appointment. Please don't do that until further notice. Phone or video calls only, for the time being, but I am sure this situation shall pass and we can resume...
For clients with open civil cases, I cannot offer any prediction about when your situation can be resolved as at the moment, it will be up to how each individual court can, or will, act. NY courts are currently shut down on every level: state, county, city, town, village, but there are a few exceptions that relate to emergency situations.
Documents requiring signatures will be delivered to your mailbox, either by me or by USPO, I will not greet you or enter your home, or we can exchange them at my street mailbox. If they must be notarized, well, that may be a bit different, but we can work that out. It's quite likely that I have regular clients' signatures on file.
For more information you can contact me by phone at 607-592-4585. While I do respond to text messages, that is not preferred. A one minute phone conversation can turn into a half-hour sentence-by-sentence exchange by text. Not a great idea.
