Defensive Driving and Victim’s Impact:

The Troy Municipal Court is proud to announce their relationship with the Teen Victim Impact – “It Won’t Happen to Me” and the Enterprise Traffic Safety Center. Both of these institutions are trustworthy models for adult defensive driving methods, along with laws and the emotional mental impact on driving safety with our local teens. In the City of Troy, if you are cited for a simple citation (such as speeding, running a stop sign, running a red light, failing to yield, etc.) and it is your first offense we offer these classes to help you protect your insurance rates as well as keep points off your driver’s license. If you successfully complete these classes and pay the associated fees the Troy Municipal Court will not prosecute your citation. If you only pay the citation and move on, your insurance rates could increase and points will be posted against your driver’s license. We wanted to provide this information so that our citizens were informed of their options, not only for their young drivers, but for themselves before they merely paid the citation to be finished with it.
