Juneteenth, celebrated on June 19th, is a federal holiday in the United States commemorating the emancipation of enslaved African Americans. It marks the day in 1865 when Union soldiers arrived in Galveston, Texas, and announced the end of the Civil War and the freedom of all enslaved people, effectively enforcing the Emancipation Proclamation. In honor of this, our office will be closed today to observe Juneteenth.
