A small law firm in Trenton, Tennessee, focusing on family law, divorce, custody, child support, adoption, conservatorships, juvenile law, criminal law, contracts, estate planning, probate and civil litigation, is looking for an full-time and/or part-time experienced legal assistant/paralegal to join our team. We are experiencing a steady increase in caseload.
As such, a new team member is needed to provide support for the firm. Because this is a position for a legal assistant or paralegal, experience in the legal field is required—and is more important than a degree. The firm needs someone that can step into our fast-paced work environment who is familiar with how the legal process and management of case files generally operates in a law firm. It is also vital that the person in this position have strong communication skills because they will be communicating directly with clients, multiple times a day.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Communicate with client, opposing counsel, court personnel and facilitate progress of cases
Prepare correspondence to clients, opposing counsel, court personnel and others
Answer the phone and direct calls to other employees as necessary
Assist in preparing legal documents, such as deeds, motions, court orders, contracts
Provide administrative support
Assist in preparation for hearings and trials
File pleadings and record documents
Maintain and organize case files for attorneys
SKILLS OR EXPERIENCE
A minimum of 3 to 5 years in experience working as a legal assistant or paralegal
Excellent reading and writing skills
Polished time management skills
Monitor deadlines and juggle calendars
Strong work ethic
Detail and deadline oriented
Ability to prioritize case load/daily tasks
Strong organizational skills
Willingness/ability to multitask
Proficiency with MS Office Suite/Adobe and computers in general
Positive attitude and team player
Dependable
Excels in high pressure situations and ability to manage them effectively
Ability to take direction and correction
Exceptional interpersonal skills; this includes the ability and/or willingness to tactfully communicate with individuals via telephone and in writing
Willing to comply with firm policies, procedures and standards

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $14.00 - $22.00 per hour
Schedule: 8 hour shift Monday to Friday
Education: High school or equivalent (Preferred)
Experience: Microsoft Office: 3 years (Required)
Legal: 3 years (Required)
