McLaughlin & Nardi, LLC

McLaughlin & Nardi, LLC McLaughlin & Nardi, LLC is a full service law firm. We are here to help you solve your problems. The firm’s roots began two decades ago.

Frank Nardi and Maurice McLaughlin met each other on their first night of law school. It was the beginning of a beautiful friendship, both personal and professional. After law school, Frank developed his legal practice, specializing in estate planning, tax, real estate and commercial transactions, Frank also became a certified public accountant and practiced as an accountant with his father, Frank

, Sr. Maurice practiced complex litigation at a large firm in Northeastern New Jersey and served as an adjunct professor at Fairleigh Dickenson University. Although they practiced in separate offices, Maurice and Frank continued to work together on many cases. When they did, they saw how complimentary their practices were and respected each other’s work. It was only natural that they decided to work together, so they merged their practices and formed McLaughlin & Nardi, LLC. Since then the firm has expanded, with additional, talented attorneys joining to bring their experience and enthusiasm. Most of our permanent staff has worked with Frank and Maurice either here or at other firms for many years; what has kept us together is the staff’s professionalism, intelligence, loyalty and commitment to our clients. We are also proud of our program of hiring law students; we strive to retain talented students who hopefully will grow with us. They gain experience in the practice of law and we are rejuvenated by their enthusiasm. We are joined by our commitment to our clients. We focus on two primary areas. First, we help our clients plan to run their lives and businesses to maximize their benefits and income while avoiding, to the extent possible, costs, problems and legal disputes. Second, when the problems do arise, we evaluate the problems to determine the best possible outcome with the minimum cost, and then we relentlessly pursue it. Toward this end, we are highly experienced negotiators and litigators. In all cases we focus on what is in the best interest of our clients. We focus on achieving professional excellence by the most cost-effective means. We combine “big firm” expertise and support with the personalized service and intimacy of a “small firm.”

Additionally, our lawyers are committed to serving the public interest. The firm’s attorneys serve in various professional, religious, charitable, civic and professional organizations. Many have served in government either in the military or civilian spheres. We perform significant pro bono legal services for people of lesser means. We take pride in providing high quality work to obtain the best possible results for our clients. We are also proud that most of our new clients are referred by current clients. The confidence in us which this demonstrates gives us satisfaction which is surpassed only by the satisfaction we get by obtaining positive results for you.

Super Lawyers’ selection criteria is as follows. “Super Lawyers selects attorneys using a patented multiphase selection process. Peer nominations and evaluations are combined with independent research. Each candidate is evaluated on 12 indicators of peer recognition and professional achievement. In the case of reverse discrimination, i.e., where an employer is accused of discriminating against an employee who is in the majority, New Jersey and many Federal courts imposed a higher burden of proof on the employee. However, the U.S. Third Circuit Court of Appeals has struck this down for the New Jersey Law Against Discrimination, at least until the New Jersey Supreme Court weighs in.

Frank Hague was the Democratic political boss of Hudson County for much of the first half of the 20th century, and mayor of Jersey City from 1917 through 1947. He was widely believed to be corrupt, and best remembered for his famous quote that “I am the law.” However, the quote was taken out of context. When two twelve-year-old boys were deemed incorrigible and slated to be sent to a correctional institution, Hague interviewed them and found that their behavior stemmed fom their dislike of school. In response, what Hague actually said was “Penal institutions are nothing but schools of crime. I will not allow a boy in a patrol wagon, in a cell, or in a court. In this case, I am the law,” and ordered them released to their parents. While probably true that he was corrupt, he was beloved for bringing jobs to Jersey City and cleaning up street crime.o
