Get to know... DESTINY

Destiny Kindred began her tenure at WBW in August 2017. Today, her responsibilities and areas of expertise include criminal and personal injury law as well as in-house booking. After graduating high school, Destiny attended Southern Regional Technical College to pursue a degree in Early Childhood Care and Education. Shortly after having her first child though, she realized that she did not want to be a teacher.

“After discovering that teaching was not my passion, I heard about the opening at WBW through friends who worked there, and I decided to apply,” Destiny explains. “I never thought about law as a career. But once I got here, I saw that I was good at it, and I really enjoy it.”

Get to know... BRITTANY

Thomasville native and Central Yellow Jacket alumna Brittany Dunn joined the WBW team almost seven months ago after a 17-year career as a home health aide and then a nearly ten-year stint as a loan officer and Senior Assistant Manager for a local financial institution. Dunn now works as a legal assistant specializing in real estate and bankruptcy. Her days include researching properties, editing and filing documents, meeting with clients, and completing closing procedures.

“Everything that I experienced in home health prepared me for the jobs I have had since. I am thankful that three employers now have taken a chance on me."

Get to know...LOGAN

Before finding her calling in the legal world, Logan McElreath embarked on a different career path. With a passion for education and a desire to become a teacher, she earned an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Care and Education from Southern Regional Technical College in Thomasville. Today, as a Legal Assistant, Logan fulfills a vital role in the firm’s daily operations. Her responsibilities encompass a wide range of tasks, including communicating with clients, promptly responding to emails, preparing and reviewing essential documents, and meticulously reviewing drafts.

“The most rewarding part of my job is witnessing the transformative impact our work has on our clients. I take pride in being able to lend a compassionate ear and assure clients that we will do everything possible to support and assist them throughout their legal journey.”

Get to know... KRISTA

You know the saying, (blank) never meets a stranger? Well, that statement rings true for Whitehurst, Blackburn & Warren legal assistant Krista Shiver. If you’ve ever spoken to Krista on the phone or met her in person, you immediately feel as if you are talking to a friend. Prior to her roles at the law firm, Krista worked in a daycare as well as with the Thomas County Sherriff’s Office as a detention officer. She says that her background working with children, families, and law enforcement helps her relate to people in all situations.

“It took me a while to find my place, but that made me well-rounded. My connections with law enforcement help me find out information more easily because I know what to ask. I can help move things along more quickly.”

Get to know... SAMANTHA

Before her career at the Broad Street office began, Samantha was a client – just like you.

“My husband and I closed on our home in 2018, and our realtor suggested WBW for closing. When interest rates began to drop during the pandemic, we refinanced our home at lower rate using WBW as our legal partner again.”

Get to know... GAYLE

If you’ve ever walked through the doors at 809 South Broad Street, you have probably seen, spoken to, or even worked with Gayle McFadden. A staple at Whitehurst, Blackburn & Warren, she has been a paralegal at the firm for more than 30 years. Originally from Miami, Florida, Gayle moved to Thomasville when her husband secured a job in the Tallahassee area. She brought to South Georgia an interest in the legal field and an Associate's degree in paralegal studies from the University of Miami.

“I enjoy getting people what they need in order for their life to resume and for them to pay their bills.”

Get to know... LESLIE

If you work with the Whitehurst, Blackburn & Warren team on a family law matter, you’ll surely get to know Leslie Akridge, the WBW family law paralegal serving alongside partner Bill Blackburn. Akridge spends 100% of her time exclusively working in the family law area of the practice. You’ll find her caring touch in every step of the process, from opening cases and participating in the initial discovery phase, to documenting evidence and preparing files, to prepping for and attending hearings with Blackburn.

“I love trial work,” says Akridge. “You could say it’s my niche.”

Get to know... LINDA

Linda Cauley is a South Georgia native and a graduate of Thomas County Central and Thomas University where she earned her bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. Linda began her extensive career in real estate law when Bill Blackburn and Bruce Warren hired her in 1987. Over the years, she has become friends with her clients and often hears back from them after successful closings.
