On July 30, 2026 Sheriff Jerimie Kraushaar was honored to be the Keynote Speaker for the Wyoming Law Enforcement Academy's Patrol Officer Basic graduating class 26B172. It was a great honor to be chosen and to deliver words of wisdom to the graduates.

******FLOOD WARNING*******
For all residents located on or near Owl Creek. The Hot Springs County Sheriff's Office has received multiple reports of the Owl Creek water level coming up steadily.

At this time it has not breached the banks.

Please be safe and stay aware of the changes in the water levels and if you do experience flooding please contact the Sheriff's Office @ 307-864-2622.

According to the National Weather Service, it appears that another round of severe thunderstorms are expected for Hot Springs County until midnight on Friday. Please lets all be extra diligent while keeping an eye on the weather, especially after yesterday's major flooding event on Kirby Creek, Buffalo Creek and Spring Creek which also included the majority of East Thermopolis.

If you are not already aware water can be one of the most violent and destructive forces in the world, a mere six inches of fast-moving flood water can knock you off your feet and 12 inches can carry away a car. Anytime flood waters are crossing a roadway you must also be aware that it could be undercutting the roadway causing the road to collapse without showing it and without warning.

If you witness fast rising creeks or rivers please don't hesitate to report the conditions to the Sheriff's Office by calling (307) 864-2622.

Notice to all Hot Springs County businesses. Jacob with Law Publications will be stopping by your businesses today and tomorrow July 13 and July 14th in an attempt to garner donations for the pamphlets that are handed out by Local Law Enforcement to our citizens who are looking for information on many topics ie: Fraud, drugs, elder abuse etc.

On June 30, 2026 at the direction of the Hot Springs County Fire Warden, the Hot Springs County Board of County Commissioner's have signed and enacted a Level 1 Fire Ban for all of Hot Springs County, except for the Town's of Thermopolis, East Thermopolis and Kirby.

Please take a moment to read the official County Resolution so that you don't inadvertently violate the order. There is a criminal penalty of up to $100.00 dollars and up to 30 days in jail for violations of the order.
