TREE LIGHTING CEREMONY
The festive fun begins on November 17 during the 15th Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony, when the Christmas tree will light up for the first time this season. Four-year-old Alexis Rodriguez, a patient at Texas Children's Hospital, has been named the 2022 Official Lighting Luminary and will light the tree alongside her family during the event. This year also includes a special performance from Tiona Campbell, who wrote a song inspired by the Christmas Tree at Market Street.

November 17th. Event starts 6 pm. Lighting the tree usually happens around 7 pm.

One of the things I enjoy the most about living in The Woodlands is the sheer abundance of wildlife I see all around. It is delightful to see kids feeding the ducks along the perimeter of Lake Woodlands.

The Woodlands has over 3500 acres of protected wilderness reserves, but it is the area around Lake Woodlands, with its waters covering over 200 acres that is my favorite for spotting wildlife and photographing it. Whenever I go for walks around the lake I take along a small DSLR with a compact 70-300 mm telephoto zoom. All the photos in this post were taken on my walks with this simple set-up.

There are many reasons why moving to The Woodlands is a great idea. Getting close to nature is one of them.

If you love Johnny Cash, head on over to Hughes Landing this evening to enjoy a tribute to his music, with a free music concert at 7 pm. One of the great things about living in The Woodlands is all the music venues, some of which are totally free to attend.
