In partnership with Apple Bank and our sister company, S&R Batista Group, which specializes in all aspects of business development—from legal business formation, permits and licenses, to contracts and compliance—we are committed to helping entrepreneurs build a strong foundation for success.

We recently conducted a workshop for women from a variety of industries and professional sectors, providing education on how to legally establish their businesses and access valuable resources to support their growth.

The workshop equipped participants with the knowledge, tools, and connections needed to confidently launch, manage, and expand their businesses while ensuring legal and operational compliance.

Last week, The Justice Rack founded by Jenell Ellison, Esq., partnered with the Bronx Bar Association to host an event providing new and gently used professional attire to law students, legal interns, students, legal professionals.

This initiative is important because access to professional clothing can be a significant barrier for individuals entering or advancing within the legal profession. By helping participants obtain appropriate attire for interviews, networking events, internships, and workplace settings, the event promoted confidence, professionalism, and equal opportunity.

The impact of this effort extends beyond clothing. It supports career development, reduces financial burdens, and helps create a more inclusive legal community where aspiring and practicing legal professionals can focus on their talents and ambitions rather than the cost of professional dress. Events like this demonstrate a commitment to equity, mentorship, and the success of future members of the legal profession.

Thank you to the Motthaven Partnership for inviting Rachel, the head of our Immigration Unit to speak during Women’s History Month about immigration rights and the challenges many individuals and families face when entering the United States.

Our office is committed to educating and empowering immigrant communities by providing guidance, resources, and support during uncertain and difficult circumstances.

We strive to ensure that people understand their rights, feel heard, and have access to the information they need to move forward with dignity and confidence.

Thank you for creating spaces like this that encourage meaningful conversations, community support, and advocacy for those navigating these experiences.

A SPECIAL POEM TO ALL THE BEAUTIFUL MOTHERS

To all the mothers who taught us how to care,

who held us gently when life wasn’t fair.
Through every sacrifice, both quiet and deep,
you gave us love before we could speak.

You turned small moments into something strong,
taught us where hearts truly belong.
Through every struggle, every tear you hide,
you stood like a light right by our side.

So today we honor all that you are,
our guiding voice, our closest star.
With endless gratitude, we clearly say:
Happy Mother’s Day, we love you always. 🌷

Since 2019, we have worked religiously to develop a program designed to create lasting impact — not only from a paralegal perspective, but also to show young students what it takes to persevere in a legal setting and carry out responsibilities with confidence.

Over the years, the program has undergone many name changes, but Future Legal Leaders, is here to stay because it truly embodies our main objective: continuing to break barriers and create opportunities in the legal field for people who come from neighborhoods like ours and speak our language. And to empower the next generation of legal leaders.

Today, we had an incredible tour of the Bronx Supreme Court, where students met four different judges, court attorneys, and court officers. They also witnessed a wrongful death trial and gained firsthand insight into how the court system operates.

Exposure to different career pathways at a young age is essential. Thank you so much to the administration team for making this visit possible and effortless.

Gala season is right around the corner, and we’re thrilled to announce our second Gala on October 2nd at Pelham Bay & Split Rock Golf Course.

This year’s theme, Legacies in Law: Breaking Barriers, celebrates the powerful strides we’re making to open doors, challenge limitations, and create lasting change in the legal field.

Together, we are uplifting new voices, expanding access, and paving the way for future generations to thrive without boundaries. It’s more than a celebration—it’s a testament to progress and purpose.

We can’t wait to see you there!

Law Day 2026

On Law Day 2026, we invite you to stand with us as we grow a movement dedicated to preparing the next generation of legal leaders.

Our Future Legal Leaders program fosters various pathways for legal professionals—first-generation students, aspiring attorneys, and future judges—to gain the practical skills needed to break barriers and enter the legal field with confidence, purpose, and preparation.

Through this program, we are not only teaching law—we are building:

Confidence in young leaders finding their voice

Justice-forward pathways into legal careers

Safe spaces for learning, mentorship, and growth

Stronger communities rooted in access and understanding

Tools to break cycles of poverty and expand opportunity

The courage to challenge systems that have excluded too many for too long

This initiative also strengthens our legal department’s navigation model, which focuses on guiding individuals through legal systems, resources, and processes—rather than only representation.

This approach matters because access to clear legal information and support often determines whether individuals can protect their rights, stabilize their families, and move forward with dignity.

When communities are equipped with knowledge, they are empowered. When they are empowered, systems change.

Stand with us. Support this program today. Help us build the future of law—one leader, one student, one pathway at a time.

Together, we move justice forward.

Last week, our president was invited as a guest speaker to facilitate a workshop on estate planning, focusing on the roles and functions of the most common estate planning documents.

This session was held in collaboration with the (WAD) Senior Detectives Program, a six-week initiative designed to empower seniors through education on elder abuse prevention, nutrition, wellness, financial literacy, and cognitive health.

It was an incredible group—highly engaged, curious, and full of thoughtful questions.

Thank you for inviting me and for giving us the opportunity to share insights on creating peace of mind for the future.
